FUNCTION:
The Cleveland Metropolitan School District (CMSD), serving approximately 50,000 students in grades Pre
K-12, in January 2010 announced the launch of the most far-reaching transformation plan in its history to dramatically improve the quality of educational programs for CMSDs students. An important key to the success of the District's plan is the creation of a high level Office of Food Services within the Operations Division that will administer the districts food and nutrition programs.

We are seeking to hire an Operations Specialist who will be responsible for staffing school-based staff and assisting with the daily operational functions. This role will report to the Operations/Point of Sale Manager. This individual will effectively interact with food service personnel, and school principals and employee services.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Receive calls from Food and Child Nutrition cafeteria employees who are reporting absent and assign substitute employees as needed.
Assist with prescreening, interviewing and recommending potential candidates for open positions.
Assist with coordinating needed repair and maintenance of inoperable food service equipment.
Data-entry of Food and Child Nutrition Services cafeteria staffing information into database.

This includes ensuring that all food service workers wear a hair net; wash hands and wear plastic gloves when handling food; and clean, prepare and store food as outlined in the Transitional Housing Program Operations Manual.

QUALIFICATIONS:

SUMMARY:
Responsible for the timely delivery of product to clients as scheduled. Incumbent may perform a variety of routine duties including driving and coordinating transportation plans, conducting routine maintenance on equipment and facilities. Administratively, is responsible for generating delivery receipts and invoices using Microsoft Word or Excel. From time-to-time may oversee clients on the production floor in the absence of management personnel.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Delivery of Product.
a. May plan route to ensure most economical use of time and equipment.
b. Uses a tow motor/lift truck to load the delivery truck in an efficient manner in compliance with organizational safety standards.
c. Picks up and delivers products and supplies in a safe and timely fashion.
d. Provides outstanding customer service during delivery and pick-up operations.
2. Maintenance: Facilities and Equipment.
a. Performs routine inspections and ensures that preventive maintenance is conducted as scheduled. Documents needed repairs and brings problems immediately to the attention of the Program Director.
b. May performs prescribed preventive maintenance on machinery and the building or grounds as required.
3. Floor Lead.
a. Incumbent will carry out the instructions of the Program Director in his/her absence.

EFFECT ON END RESULTS: This position provides a valuable support service to program clients and administrative personnel at the program facility and responds to the needs of visitors and customers.

QUALIFICATIONS:
o Experience, Competencies and Education. High school or technical school graduate and three years of factory-related experience in maintenance or driving capacity. Incumbent must be able to perform basic math calculations. Previous experience driving forklifts, box trucks, vans and other vehicles is required. Must be computer literate and able to use Microsoft® Word and Excel at the intermediate level.
o Language Skills. Good verbal and written communication skills required. Must effectively, courteously, and professionally communicate and interact with clients, co-workers, and all affiliates of Volunteers of America Greater Ohio.
o Licensing. Must have a valid Ohio Driver’s License and must be insurable under Volunteers of America of Greater Ohio’s insurance carrier. Must pass a drug test and background check.
