JOB SUMMARY
Works under general supervision of Supervisor Carpenter/Cabinetmaker or other supervisor in performing the following functions independently from written and verbal instructions, sketches or plans: maintains and repairs existing structures and fixtures; builds cabinets and caseworks; installs, maintains and repairs casework, cabinets, counter tops, floorings, walls, ceilings, masonry; performs structural remodeling, construction or demolition; and performs other related duties, as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge, Skills and Physical Demands:
Completion of four years apprenticeship for Carpenter. OR Four years of on-the-job training experience as a Carpenter. Must be able to read blueprints; lay out own work from general instructions. Typical physical demands require full body motion including ability to perform work while bending, stooping, stretching, climbing ladders; requires dexterity and strength sufficient to operate required tools and machinery; typically required to lift and carry machinery and/or equipment weighing 25-100 pounds and/or assist with lifting weights exceeding 100 pounds. Requires color acuity sufficient to distinguish color coded wiring and piping.
Experience:
Three years of experience as a Carpenter, one year of which carpentry experience must have been in industrial, commercial or institutional setting; to include work with all carpentry and cabinet making power equipment, remodeling experience, plastic laminate experience, and construction of high grade cabinets with demonstrated ability to perform general maintenance work as related to Carpentry/Cabinet Making and associated fields.
